Frequently asked questions about the Association and its work.
There is more information available on the website for tenants of Housing for Women if they register. Please contact the office or use our online tenant registration form. We will verify that you are a tenant before registration is approved.
How long do I have to wait for my repair?
Repairs are classed in the following three ways:
- Emergency repairs - These are repairs that give rise to a danger to life or limb or an imminent structural fault. Emergency repairs are dealt with on the day when they are reported (within 24 hours)
- Urgent repairs - These are dealt with within a week (seven days)
- Routine repairs - These repairs would be carried out within four weeks (28 days)
The target completion date is printed on the work order that is sent to you when you request a repair.
Dates quoted are for the maximum time allowed, quite often repairs are completed in less time. However a repair is not overdue until the target completion date on the order. If your repair has not been carried out by that target date then please inform the office.

What is the Tenants' Panel?
The Tenants' Panel is a group of tenant volunteers who meet four times a year to give feedback on Housing for Women's services and to discuss anything of concern to tenants. The panel has a chair and uses formal agenda for the meeting. A member of HfW's senior management team usually attends meetings to take minutes and provide information but the panel is independent of the Association's management.
Does Housing for Women only house women?
Housing for Women only grants tenancies to women who are unable to obtain housing because they have insufficient means, these are the beneficiaries identified in our objectives as a registered charity. We do house men but they are the partners, children or elderly dependents of our tenants.
