Overall Aim

 

We are an independent housing association and a charity dedicated to improve lives by providing social housing and gender sensitive support services to women in London.

This is an ambitious and challenging role suitable for an individual looking to gain hands on experience in business and/or project management. You will be assisting our Director of Finance and Resources to devise, design and deliver a number of projects aiming to:

  • Map and modernise vital organisational processes keeping them documented and up to date,
  • Analyse business trends, opportunities and risks including financial bids, competitors’ analysis, suppliers and contractors compliance, year-end statutory accounts, Directors and trustees’ reports, etc.,
  • Identify the needs of individual members of staff to access professional qualifications based on individual annual appraisals, and
  • Identify historic data electronically kept to be archived and assist in the design of our electronic documents storage.

As our Finance and Resources Volunteer, whilst you do not need Financial or Business Administration qualifications you must have a good command of Excel. If you are willing to learn in a fast paced environment, are curious to understand processes, have an eye for detail, enjoy analysing data this is the perfect volunteer role for you. You will have the opportunity to work along with all our teams and departments as your role works with the Director of Finance and Resources. Confidentiality is a requirement due to the nature of the tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • To assist the Director of Finance and Resources in the design of a suite of weekly and monthly finance, compliance, IT and HR reports
  • To carry out desktop research to support the financial analysis and bid review of new contracts with Local Authorities for the current provision of services to tackle Domestic Abuse
  • To collaborate with the drafting of the End of Year Directors and trustees Reports, collecting data and analysing it as necessary  
  • To analyse training needs of staff based on individual staff annual appraisals, creating a logging process and helping to identify a training plan for the next financial year with the HR staff
  • To help with revision of existing contractors’ GDPR compliance
  • To participate in the design of our electronic document storage as well as identifying historic data to be archived
  • To act in accordance with the aims of Housing for Women
  • To promote and implement Housing for Women’s Equality Diversity and Inclusion Policy and other polices adopted by the Board. 


 Availability

We are looking for someone able to commit 1-3days per week for a minimum of 6 months. We can be flexible with the days and the hours.   Our core volunteering hours are Monday to Friday 9.30-4.30pm.

Additional Information

  • Core training and induction will be provided prior commencing the role.
  • We reimburse genuine out of pocket travel expenses (London zones 1- 6) to and from the place of work and up to £4 for lunch expenses.

Role Experience, Knowledge and Skills Profile

Experience

·         Experience of working with Microsoft including Word and Excel

·         Experience working with numerical information and data would be an advantage

·         Sound understanding of confidential working

·         Analytical thinking and methodical approach with both,   a keen eye for detail and the capacity to see the big picture
