Older Women

Older Tenants Officer

Housing for Women employs a dedicated Older Tenants Officer to assist our older tenants (defined as aged 60 and over). We focus on assisting our tenants in their existing homes as well as exploring other housing options as their individual requirements change.

We help our older tenants with:

  • floating support tailored to their needs
  • sign-posting tenants to external services and voluntary agencies
  • arranging for the provision of aids & adaptations including liaison with occupational therapy, health and social services
  • providing benefits and financial inclusion sign-posting
  • combating social isolation by providing a range of social activities and supporting befriending

Older Women’s Housing

We worked with the Older Women’s Co-Housing (OWCH) group during the development of New Ground – an innovative purpose-built scheme of 25 flats in High Barnet. Handover of the site was completed near the end of 2016 with Housing for Women’s 8 older tenants taking up residency in their new homes in early 2017.

The scheme was delivered with members of the OWCH group and the Hanover Housing Association.  The acquisition of the 8 rented units for Housing for Women's tenants was made possible by a grant from the Tudor Trust.
