ReConnect launched in April 2017 in partnership with Thames Reach. The service offers supported accommodation for women with complex needs on release from prison.

We help provide women with a period of stability and routine so that they can re-orientate their lives, establish wider support networks and prevent re-offending. The service offers holistic support and engagement in group programmes in the community.

Liaising with the Probation Service and prisons, our work starts prior to release so that we can help women to access and receive support from local substance misuse services, community mental health, GPs and counselling.

We liaise with Probation Officers and Local authorities as well as accompanying women to their appointments to help improve confidence and independent living skills, reduce substance misuse, address mental health issues and improve emotional well-being.

ReConnect so far

  • So far we have worked with 9 women
  • 6 women reported an improvement in their emotional well-being and either reduced substance misuse or maintained abstinence
  • 2 of the women have received additional mentoring support
  • 3 of the women have engaged in education, training and employment opportunities
