ReConnect offers supported accommodation for women dealing with substance misuse and with complex needs on release from prison.

Who we help

We support women leaving prison dealing with substance misuse problems that would otherwise be homeless.

This project combines safe secure 4 bed accommodation and person-centred support in order to bring about positive changes in their lives and prevent reoffending.

How we help

ReConnect offers supported accommodation in conjunction with dedicated support workers who provide holistic support.

We help provide women with a period of stability and routine so that they can re-orientate their lives, establish wider support networks and prevent reoffending.

Liaising with the Probation Service and prisons, our work starts prior to release so that we can help women to access and receive support from local substance misuse services, community mental health services, GPs and counselling.

We liaise with Probation Officers and local authorities as well as accompanying women to their appointments to help improve confidence and independent living skills, reduce substance misuse, address mental health issues and improve emotional well-being.

Over a year

  • 7 women supported
  • 4 women reported improvement in emotional well-being
  • 3 women engaged in education and training
  • 4 women reduced substance misuse or maintained abstinence
