Healthy Eating Week

Healthy Eating Week

Published 10 June 2024

Healthy Eating Week is here from 10-16 June! It's the perfect time to boost your health and energy. This week is all about making better food choices and adding more nutritious options to your meals.

For mums and children, this is a great chance to try new foods and healthy habits. Here are some easy tips to help you and your family eat better:

  • Have Fun with Meals: Let your children help plan and make meals. They can pick fruits and vegetables to include or help make colourful salads.
  • Choose Healthy Snacks: Go for snacks like fresh fruit, yogurt, or vegetable sticks with hummus. Keep unhealthy snacks out of reach to encourage better choices.
  • Stay Hydrated: Make sure children drink plenty of water, especially when it's hot. Try to limit sugary drinks and choose water or diluted fruit juice instead.
  • Set a Good Example: Show your children how to eat a variety of healthy foods by doing it yourself. Kids are more likely to try new foods if they see adults enjoying them.
  • Watch Portion Sizes: Serve the right portion sizes for children and avoid using food as a reward or punishment.
  • Get Active: Combine healthy eating with regular physical activity. Encourage outdoor play or family walks to stay active together.

Remember, small changes can make a big difference to your family's health. Trying a new vegetable, swapping sugary snacks for healthier ones, or enjoying meals together can all help.
