Volunteers' Week: How you can make a difference with Housing for Women
Today marks the start of Volunteer’s Week (June 3-9). This national campaign aims to recognize and celebrate the immense contributions of volunteers across the UK.
At Housing for Women, volunteers are the lifeblood of our organization, helping us deliver essential services to vulnerable women and children.
Our volunteers support us in a wide range of roles, from office roles in Finance, Neighbourhood Services, Customer Services, and Communications, to more direct interaction with our service users.
For example, our Refuge volunteers, who must be female, work directly with women and children fleeing domestic abuse, offering practical support and a safe environment.
Additionally, we collaborate with universities to provide student placements, giving students invaluable hands-on experience in their fields.
The benefits of volunteering with us are diverse. Volunteers gain new skills, build confidence, enhance their employability, and make meaningful connections. It is also a chance for volunteers to make a difference by engaging with and supporting some of the most vulnerable people in our society.Â
We offer comprehensive training and regular supervision to ensure that volunteers can perform their roles effectively and feel supported.
If you are passionate about making a difference and want to be part of a supportive community, consider volunteering with Housing for Women. Your time and effort can have a profound impact on the lives of those we serve.
