Celebrating International Women’s Day
As we observe International Women's Day 2025, we reflect on this year's theme: 'Accelerate Action'. This call to action underscores the urgency of dismantling systemic barriers and biases that hinder women's progress.
At Housing for Women, our mission has been to empower women and challenge inequality since 1934. We are dedicated to providing safe, affordable housing and support services to address the unique challenges women face in accessing housing and rebuilding their lives.
The statistics are stark: 60% of homeless adults in temporary accommodation in England are women. In London, this figure rises to 65%. These numbers highlight the critical need for targeted support and housing solutions for women.
Our work is more vital than ever. We provide safe, affordable housing and comprehensive support services to women escaping domestic abuse, survivors of trafficking, and women leaving prison. By offering these essential services, we empower women to rebuild their lives, regain independence, and heal from trauma.
As we reflect on the progress made, we acknowledge the work still to be done. The 'Accelerate Action' theme serves as a powerful reminder that achieving gender equality requires swift, decisive steps.
Housing for Women is committed to being part of that action, ensuring that every woman has access to safe, supportive housing and the opportunity to thrive.
Together, we can accelerate action and create a fairer society for all women.
